In June 2026, the European Commission published Commission Recommendation (EU) 2026/1210 of 9 June 2026 on monitoring the presence of pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) in feed.
The Recommendation encourages to implement targeted monitoring activities on feed materials that are more likely to be contaminated by these naturally occurring toxic compounds.
Particular attention is recommended for:
Forage materials
Lucerne (alfalfa)
Herbs and herbal mixtures
Plant extracts
Other botanical feed ingredients
